ISACA launched COBIT 7 on 27 October 2026. The new COBIT 7 Foundations Certificate replaces the COBIT 2019 Foundation programme, and the clock is now running for anyone who bought a COBIT 2019 exam.

You have until 26 April 2027 to sit it. The COBIT 2019 Foundation exam is online and remotely proctored: 75 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours, pass mark 65%.
Don’t plan to sit it in the last week. If something goes wrong on exam day, there is no later date to move to.
Go straight to COBIT 7. The Foundations exam is the new entry point, and Design and Implementation will follow in 2027. COBIT 7 is delivered through ISACA’s COBIT 7 digital platform rather than only as a set of books.
Governance frameworks are being rewritten around AI. ITIL (Version 5) added an AI Governance module this year. If your role sits between IT governance and AI adoption, the two fit well together.
